The situation
Little Golden Books is an 80-year-old brand. Its biography line keeps that heritage relevant by tapping into culture — pop stars, athletes, and icons — to reach new generations of families and fans. The challenge: connect with passionate, highly specific fandoms (K-pop, Swifties, sports fans) and turn cultural moments into book sales.
My role
I led brand marketing for the Little Golden Book biography and pop-culture line — campaign strategy, messaging, copy, paid social and influencer plans, cover reveals, and retail and event presence — across a high volume of titles.
The approach
I built fan-first, culturally timed campaigns that met each audience where they already are:
Fandom-targeted paid media: campaigns for BTS, BLACKPINK, Taylor Swift, Selena, Beyoncé, Billy Porter, and Chappell Roan across Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Spotify, and Division D — targeted to each artist's fanbase.
Cultural-moment timing: tied launches and drop-ins to the right moments — Shohei Ohtani for baseball fans, athlete bios during major sports seasons, and the "Golden Biographies of Great Women" collection (Selena, Maya Angelou, RBG, Michelle Yeoh, Katie Ledecky, Beyoncé) around Women's History Month.
Cover reveals & influencer: coordinated social cover reveals and creator activations to build anticipation ahead of on-sale.
Retail & events: showcased the line at consumer and trade events, including New York Comic Con's Kids' Book Nook, and in retail.
The result
A steady stream of culture-driven campaigns that kept an 80-year-old brand relevant — connecting Little Golden Books to some of the world's biggest fandoms and converting cultural moments into new readers.
